a Swiffer is an outstanding
executioner's tool
(carcass removal provides further challenges)

I might have to use that for ants in my house! I got tons of them :(

Try Borax sprinkled around Yuko, that might help!

I love my small shop-vac for this--lots of suction on the end of a long stick = instantaneous carcass removal!

Sprinkle borax all around the house?

Anon - now there's a solution! A shop vac seems brilliant for this use. Of course I would need to leave the shop vac accessible at all times just in case...
The carcasses are so yucky.
I really really dislike spiders.

Yuko - try sprinkling Borax around the perimeter of the house or where you think the ants might be entering.

Brits are fairly precious about not killing spiders. Amazing the lengths they go to put them outside unharmed. Personally I have no problem killing critters (so long as they don't crunch).

Not sure about Borax (is it poisonous?) but I was amazed at how well talcum powder prevented incursion of ants. Magic.

Shelley, no, Borax is not poisonous. Well, only to insects so far as I can tell. My daughter saves all kinds of critters and, though I'd like to be so generous myself, my avid fear of many legged bugs overrides any compassion I'm sorry to say. It's always a battle to the death as far as I'm concerned. :)
