Too bad, the book had very mixed reviews - it sounds difficult!

I have many books I didn't finish... I think it's better to stop when you know that's not for you.

Yuko - it is unusual for me to stop reading a book once I start. I should know better. :)

ExactingL - it seemed so promising and I kept thinking it would coalesce. I was reading and thinking I must be missing chapters or something because I absolutely cannot figure out what is happening!

I tend to finish the books I start as well...so if you bailed out on this one I'll not bother starting! I hadn't come across it in any case. I thought I might give up on Edith Wharton's Customs of the Country (or something like that). I really didn't like the heroine and was tiring of the long list of her victims but eventually I turned a corner and started reading to hopefully discover her demise! Some biographies aren't about fascinating people but things you learn about their friends make up for it! Still, a lost cause is best dropped.

But you might be one of those who enjoy this book Shelley! It has mixed reviews, sort of like Marmite.
Yes, I kept hoping I would turn a corner, but in the end I was too lost and gave up hope. :)
