Denim's great for upholstery, isn't it? xxx
Beautiful! I had a bunch of bits of fabric samples from an interior decorator and made patchwork chair covers for my kitchen. I do love making something from 'nothing'; or giving new life to an old thing. Gorgeous blue that denim is.
Vix - it is sturdy and versatile so I am a big fan of denim. :)Shelley - I remember those beautiful chair covers you made. That was much more ambitious that chopping up a denim shirt and stapling onto the seat!. I'm hoping the denim will eventually fade and have worn out areas from use. It's really good to find new ways to use old things isn't it? I think I'll use the scraps from the rest of shirt to wrap gifts (it was a very large mens shirt).
Just went and looked at the denim scraps. The sleeves are going to make lovely wine bottle wraps, cuff side up and tied off with twine. I'm going to fray the other pieces and use them as furoshiki and save the placket to as a ribbon.
Denim and canvas are so good and durable. Nice project, make me want to reupholster a few things again soon. :)/Madisonhttp://fashiontalesblog.com
See? This is very cool.
FashionTales - canvas too, I forget about canvas! :)Pao - is it? Practical, yes, but cool? Well, cool is so arcane...
I've never thought of using a shirt for upholstery, but this is a great idea! I have some chairs I need to reupholster. I adore your creativity.
Yuko - my dining room chairs are all covered in mens shirts from the thrift store. I'll have to post a photo. I don't know that it counts as creative, probably mostly practical. :)
Love the blue against the dark wood. Excellent in every way!
Thank you SP!
